Found this at the liquor store this afternoon. It’s Colbitzer Heide-Brauerei Pils from Braunschweig . Never seen it before. Judging by the abundance of languages predominately Chinese) on the ingredients and warning label, I’d say it’s pretty widely distributed. And, as such, it’s not that daring. Cou ld be a little more carbonated and a little more sharp flavored for my idea of a good pils. But it certainly is drinkable. I’d give it a 7/10 because I’ve had much worse.

Export ready!

We went to a good friends and they made cocktail margaritas. Basically, it was all high octane  alcohol.  Sippin’ drinks.

I popped open that bottle of Charles Shaw Pinot to recover from my daughter’s tantrum, brought in by my not approving how she wants to decorate the bathroom. She turns 14 Tuesday. The drama thickens.

I’m still a beer man. But I won’t turn down a drink when it’s offered.

My 14-year-olds still have tantrums too. But it’s usually not about interior decorating.

I would like an adult beverage to recover from this work week but alas, I’m too lazy to make a decision and there’s a cat on my lap so I can’t get one anyway.

(But really...oatmeal stout or wine?)

I saw tantrum, then 14, was confused, and then I wasn’t.

Doing a drinking game with a few bartending friends. We all take turns mixing drinks, and after drinking them we each give out points from 1 to 4 based on how the drink tasted . By the end of the night, whoever has the most average points doesn’t have to chip in money for the next get together. Last time I won was... 4th of July. Three years ago...

I would think not.

Whenever her behavior confuses me, I dial the wayback machine in my hand and remember. It tends to make me a bit more understanding. Both of her and of my parents.

Given the current forecast of cool weather, I’m thinking of brewing some kind of lager tomorrow. Maybe a doppelbock or Munich Helles. Without a cooling system large enough to house one of my fermenters, I have to rely on a little help from mother nature. I think it might just cooperate with me.

What kind of wine are we talking about?

Just kidding, go with the stout.

I’d go for the wine. If it’s a white, say pinot grigio or chenin blanc (or even better a beaujolais bland), add a cube of ice to the glass and sit back and let the cool refreshing nectar wash down.

In hindsight, probably should’ve had wine. I ate way too much for dinner and it would have been a smaller serving
